Respectful Service for Older Sellers
There comes a point when the car in the garage is driven once a month, or not at all. Insurance keeps billing, the battery keeps dying, and the car slowly becomes a storage problem instead of transportation. Many of our sellers tell us they held on for a year longer than they needed to, just because selling felt complicated.
It does not have to be. One phone call, a firm offer, and a scheduled pickup. We have helped thousands of older sellers across South Florida, and we take the time to make sure every question is answered before anything is signed.
Often it is an adult child who calls us first. They describe their parent's car, we give a firm offer, and then the family discusses it together. When everyone is comfortable, we schedule a pickup at the parent's home. The parent signs the title with our driver present, and the cash is handed over on the spot. It can all be arranged without the family member ever leaving their own state.
If you are the one selling, you are welcome to have a family member, friend, or neighbor with you at pickup. There is no reason to handle it alone if you would rather not.
This is common and usually solvable. Bring the title and any related paperwork, such as a death certificate if you have one. In most cases we can still complete the purchase. Tell us the details when you call and we will explain exactly what is needed.
Seniors selling cars are targeted by two things: private buyers who renegotiate the price in the driveway, and online forms that sell your phone number to a dozen companies. A firm offer agreed by phone before anyone arrives, paid in cash at pickup, avoids both. Be cautious of anyone who will not give you a price until they see the car, or who wants you to sign paperwork you have not read.
Another common trap is the buyer who offers to handle everything if you just sign the title over first and wait for payment later. Never do this. Payment and paperwork happen together, at the same time, with you present or with someone you trust present. Any buyer who separates the two is not someone you should work with.
Our driver calls when on the way. At your home, they check that the car matches what was described, then sit with you to sign the title and a bill of sale. You remove your personal belongings and your license plate. The car is loaded with free towing, and you are handed cash for the agreed amount. The whole visit usually takes less than half an hour.
After the sale, keep a copy of the signed paperwork for your records. Cancel the insurance policy on the car and surrender or transfer the license plate at your convenience. If a family member helped arrange the sale, we can confirm completion with them by phone as well.
