No title? No problem in most cases. Free towing, cash on the spot.
Why Sell As-Is
We are a family-run South Florida business with our own fleet of 15 trucks, and we have bought more than 10,000 cars across the tri-county area. Lost keys are a routine situation for us, not a complication.
The sale is based on ownership, not on keys. We verify who you are and that the car is yours to sell, make a cash offer, and handle the rest, including loading a car that cannot be started.
Selling a car without keys means completing the sale when the keys are lost, broken, or simply unavailable. It happens more often than people expect: keys get lost in moves, break off in ignitions, or disappear with a former driver. It does not prevent the sale, because the transaction is based on ownership paperwork, not on the keys.
What we verify instead is ownership. Your photo ID, the vehicle title in your name, and the VIN on the car are what establish that the vehicle is yours to sell. The keys are a convenience for driving, and since the car is being towed away, they are not needed.
If the title is also missing, tell us when you call. In most cases Florida allows the sale to proceed anyway, and we will explain exactly what is needed before we dispatch a truck.
We match the VIN plate on the dashboard or door jamb against your paperwork, confirm your ID, and complete the title transfer or bill of sale. The whole verification takes a few minutes.
The most common story is a move. Keys get packed in a box that never gets unpacked, left at an old address, or lost somewhere between the old driveway and the new one. By the time anyone looks seriously, the trail is cold.
Keys also break. A worn key snaps off in the ignition or the door lock, and extracting the stub without damaging the cylinder is a job in itself. Older drivers sometimes stop driving and the keys vanish into a household over the following years. And cars that sat for a long time often outlast anyone's memory of where the keys went.
Whatever the story, the result is the same: a car you own and cannot start. That is a paperwork situation, not a mechanical one, and it is resolved with documents rather than with a locksmith.
A basic metal key is cheap to copy, but few modern cars use one. Chip keys, laser-cut keys, and proximity fobs typically require a dealer visit or a specialist locksmith, and the cost climbs quickly, especially when all keys are lost and the car must be towed to the dealer or the locksmith must come to the car.
On an older vehicle being sold for its salvage value, a key replacement can consume a large share of what the car is worth. Paying that money just to hand the new key to a buyer makes little sense when buyers like us do not need keys at all.
The exception is a newer car you plan to keep driving or sell privately, where keys matter to the next driver. For a car headed to salvage, skip the key and keep the money.
Key technology is the reason replacement got so expensive. A transponder chip key must be programmed to the car's immobilizer, laser-cut keys need special cutting equipment, and proximity fobs pair electronically with the vehicle. Each step adds cost, and when all keys are lost, the car usually has to be towed to the dealer or the specialist has to come to the car, adding a service call on top.
A related situation: someone else has the keys and will not return them, such as after a breakup or a falling out. As the titled owner, you can still sell the vehicle. Your ownership is established by the title and your ID, not by who is holding the keys. If there is any dispute about ownership itself, that needs to be resolved first, but a missing key holder alone never blocks the sale.
Call 954-787-5717 or send the quote form with the year, make, model, and a note that the keys are missing. We make a cash offer based on the car's weight, parts value, and current scrap prices, exactly as if the keys were in your pocket.
If you accept, we schedule pickup, usually within about an hour, anywhere in Broward, Miami-Dade, or Palm Beach County. Our truck loads the car with a winch or wheel lift, since it cannot be started or steered under its own power easily. We complete the paperwork with you, pay cash on the spot, and tow the car away free.
It happens. If the keys turn up after the sale, they are yours to keep or discard. The sale is complete and the price does not change.
